Black Widow Rope Spinners
The Black Widow Rope Spinners is a competitive jump rope team from Penticton. The jumpers practise for two hours, twice a week in order to prepare for competition throughout the year. The team is a demonstration team for the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation and they travel to schools in the area to put on shows and promote the sport of jump rope. The highlight of the season is the Provincial competition in April, the National competition in May, and for some, the World Jump Rope Competition in July. The jumpers look forward to the week long Peach Festival in August where the team performs a number of shows on the main stage throughout the festival. The team also does shows for other sporting events, conventions, and community activities when they arise. The team has four members on the BC Allstar team who help with coaching, preparing show agendas, and skill development.
